Dennis devoted more than 60 years to swimming, leaving a lasting legacy through his achievements and impact on the sport, as detailed in the obituary below. A family only Committal will be held earlier in the day. Anyone who wishes to come to the Celebration will be more than welcome and afterward at the Holiday Inn, Marlborough Road, Swindon, SN3 6AQ.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dennis Yeoman &#8211; Obituary<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Dennis on Tuesday, 17th March, following his recent decline due to Parkinson&#8217;s Disease.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis\u2019 achievements were exceptional throughout his 61 years in aquatics, which began with him becoming Head Coach of Marlborough ASC at the age of 17. Since then, he has taken on several roles from Vice Chairman and Team Manager of Wroughton ASC, a Swimming Judge\/Timekeeper and then an ASA Swimming Referee in 1975. He Refereed at all levels of events for GB and the ASA and in 1984 officiated at the European Championships at Sofia, Bulgaria. He was also Lead Referee for the Youth Olympics at Bath in 1994.<\/p>\n<p>In 1974, at the age of 26 he became Hon Secretary of Wiltshire ASA, a post he held until 2002. He was still a member of the Wiltshire Management Committee and member of the Emergency Committee until December 2025 and presided as President of Wiltshire in 1985.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Club, County and Regional positions he became well known for his contribution at National level. He was elected on to the ASA Committee in 1977 when he became one of the youngest members on that committee.&nbsp;In 1987 he collaborated on \u201cThe Way Forward\u201d with David Sparks and was awarded the ASA Gold Pin for long service.<\/p>\n<p>At the age of 50 in 1998 Dennis decided to retire from his job as a Building Society Executive to have further time for the sport he loved.&nbsp; He went on to act as consultant with the ASA in many spheres including Modernisation, Introducing BAGCATS, Writing and delivery the Team Manager Training, work with the Irish ASA and several years working with the Gibraltar Government and Gibraltar Swimming Federation.<\/p>\n<p>In 1998 Dennis joined the Commonwealth Games Board where he remained for 15 years. He was appointed as Aquatics Director for the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Deck Manager for the Olympic Games in London 2012, and worked as Presentation Director for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>With a keen interest in aquatics across almost every discipline, Dennis has worked with both FINA Diving and \u201cFINA DIVING Live TV\u201d at the World Cup at Sheffield in 2007. He became Field of Play Manager for Artistic Swimming at the 2012 Olympics and was also responsible for Swimming at the 2013 Youth Olympics. He also became Chairman of the Swimming Trust.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis\u2019s contributions have been recognized with numerous awards, including Sport Administrator of the Year at the 2010 Commonwealth Sports Awards and the esteemed ASA\/Swim England Harold Fern Award in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout his career, Dennis demonstrated professionalism, innovation, and sustained commitment to aquatic sports at both national and international levels.
