{"id":4819,"date":"2021-12-14T15:47:37","date_gmt":"2021-12-14T15:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wiltshireswimming.co.uk\/?p=4819"},"modified":"2021-12-14T15:47:37","modified_gmt":"2021-12-14T15:47:37","slug":"tony-stratford-past-president-wilts-asa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.wiltshireswimming.co.uk\/?p=4819","title":{"rendered":"Tony Stratford &#8211; Past President Wilts ASA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is with great sadness that we have to tell you that Tony died this morning, after a short illness.<\/p>\n<p>Tony came into swimming over forty years ago with his children; mentored by Doreen Clark, he became qualified as a teacher, coach and official which started a commitment as a stalwart of Swindon Dolphin ASC&nbsp; which carried on for the rest of his life.<\/p>\n<p>He introduced the Swindon Open Meet with Wroughton and Tigersharks and in the 1980\u2019s took the position of Chief Coach of Dolphins. His technical skills were superb<br \/>\nhe cared for his swimmers, it was always about them, not himself and he worked tirelessly for the club ensuring that it was supporting the wider view of Wilts County.<br \/>\nHe was elected as Wilts County ASA President in 1997.<\/p>\n<p>In more recent years he has been a regular licensed official at all county events also supporting other clubs open meets. One parent, from a local club, upon hearing the news earlier said. \u201c I did not really know him, but he has always been there ever since I came into swimming.
